Engagement Activity 1 Digital Technology 3 Wk5 - Power Point
Create a simple Power Point -
I started simple then created what I thought was the most amazing presentation but lost it a few times as my computer (CPU) is not quite PowerPoint10 compatible and the update will take up to a week to 10 days.....mmmm I'm on the assumption that the assessment due date won't be extended for software updates :) so critical thinking hat on to do a little problem solving.

Learning experience was to create a basic PowerPoint then the extend on this experience to add a few hyperlinks, animations, transitions, pictures and audios.  After creating 10 cool slides my PowerPoint was lost :( so I had to restart with a recovered file....Yep it happened again) 4 times so at 11pm I saved, again and went to give my brain a rest (currently short on supply) which impacts on behavioural changes in character and the way I deal with my computer.  So in the morning I go to Uni with the expressed idea to move onto activity two Prezi and link ideas from the PowerPoint, but on opening, 10 of my slides are missing and the recovered file is the same as it was at 8pm the night before.  More critical thinking and troubleshooting and brainstorming.

Note to Self -Moral of this story is that I should save work on USB as well as computer and update software regularly....

This PowerPoint discovery using practical application expanded my knowledge and changed my usual basic us to a more interactive Hyperlinked presentation with YouTube clips, Audio etc

  • Cognition - understanding and memory acquisition
  • Multi-Modal - using more than one mLearning device and eLearning
  • Project Based Learning through the use and application of apps and software packages
  •  Blended Learning practise
  • Basic & Interactive PowerPoint Skills
  • Troubleshooting skills for higher order thinking by finding an alternative to uploading power point to my blog

Above is an example of my KWL – Strategy developed by (Donna Ogle 1986, p.55), which is usually used for reading, can be applied to identifying what underpinning knowledge that I already have, what new knowledge that I’ve gained and What do I want to learn.  Students can create there own KWL sheet related to there dance, business, drama or physical education journey along with other study areas to identifying goals.  Marzano & Pickering (1997, p55)

So now that I've grounded my goals the decision moving forward was to go with what I've produced in the Power Point and align to the Prezi.  I will then review my progress and do a few tweaks. This way I can also departmentalise my tasks and use a comparative evaluation on which of these presentation works best within the classroom environment for my potential learners needs, but still deliver the same information.  Thus having tool styles of learning ready to meet the needs of the class dependant on the need of the learning, which brings me back to VARK and the learning styles preferences questionnaire

Here my Bubblo of my learning - this is good way for student to identify there learning style and to help you creates strategies for adding meaning to your students learning.

My Learning Preference (identified through Vark learner questionnaire online- Multimodal - Kinaesthetic 13, Visual 11, Read Write 13,  Aural 8. VARK MultiModal Strategies
Engagement Activity 2 Technology 4 Week5 Prezi - Zoom :
Once I got the hang of it I loved both the sequential and global perspective that brought the smaller details into play, as sometimes the devil is in the detail - interpretation - is were you identify what is being asked - gain guide knowledge to develop your own creativity and engage in learning on many levels.  This can combine the static formality of the PowerPoint in a more interactive and visually tactile experience to engage feelings, senses, thoughts and engagement.

Prezi when it came to editing and adding or removing
Prezi uploaded with embedded code

My Prezi Presentation is called
Steps in the Learning Space of Prezi for Dance Classroom Application

Smaller version - link http://prezi.com/8tt27lkwho-t/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share

If the prezi was used it could be broken up into small components for delivery as this type of presentation could get really big and a little crowded with the small details, pathway etc.

So I now have a snipping tool that I can use to show you what my Prezi looks like :)  this is linked to both my learning journey in creating this blog and enhancing my learning by creating presentations and learning communication through interactive tools with a little subject area speciality to show the transformation of Dance learning modalities and e-learning capabilities.

Dance
Classroom implementation of  Years 7 to 8 Dance Curriculum in the Arts and how it can be advantageous and beneficial to behavioural links to improve inclusive ideals within the class room as dance can be therapeutic - teach us about life - blend learning - build confidence ....I could go on and on and on I believe I've identified my bias I Love Dance and how it can bridge barriers as an international visual communication.  Laban said contemporary dance is

Students would be able to use Prezi and PowerPoint to both enhance there learning.  These eLearning tools can also be technical props, as the PowerPoint can be used in dance presentation as a backdrop for the dance performance.  (This I've done, as it give a good visual a lower cost on your lighting bills).  Prezi can also be used to design lighting plans and linking songs for lighting schools.

These resources would also link to the choreographic activity in last weeks blog.

Engagement Activity 3 Week 5 - Glogster

Glogster Poster - The pink squares are links to YouTube clips - the same as what is in the Prezi and Power Point - my kinaesthetic - visual - read/write preferences coming out (see VARK information above) Further learning identified from this activity is to identify how to put pictures on the interactive squares and add in video.

This Glogster links a past blog from Friday 31st July - this type of interactive poster would link here for classroom multimodal learning as another tool for students to use and display there knowledge.

You can link up to a 7 day trial like I have and then if this is a presentation format that will work for your students and classroom Go for Gold

Option 3 - Create a marketing poster (for your creative arts business, dance show or play), (discuss you ideas with your teacher)  - look at the Toolkit for Marketing Modern Dance
Identify 6 point on or about your subject area topic (for a collaborative this can be in any order you like as long as you come to a consensus of 6) Upload your information to your wiki/blog.

Additionally, this activity could link cultural awareness and dance links  to engage with the local elders in creation of a poster that would make connections between contemporary and cultural dance with inspiration from  Bangarra Dance Theatre - Lore

The growth of transformative learning theory Taylor, E, W. 1998 as a theoretical scaffold by which students and teachers can come to welcome the communication of culture, identity and meaning in the aim of supporting and celebrating diversity and inclusive elearning in the for creation of art work in a traditional manner, and linking it to a ICT medium, Glogter, Flickr, or another photographic medium with permission of traditional owners.  (my apologise if I've identified this incorrectly)

Transformative learning theory offers a theory of learning that is uniquely adult, abstract, idealized and grounded in the nature of human communication.  A developmental process  of using prior interpretation to construct a new or revised interpretation of the meaning of one’s experience in order to guide future action” (Mezirow 1996, p162) Sykes, B. E. 2014

Australian Curriculum AISTL Information and Communication Technology ICT capability-  Learning continuum
At the year 7 level student should be remembering social and ethical protocols
-  recognise intellectual property
-  apply digital information security practices
-  apply personal security practices
 - identify the impact of ICT on society

Communicating with ICT - Years 8 students should be able to be able to Generate solutions to challenges and learning area tasks - manipulate and combine images, text, video and sound for presentations; create podcasts; apply purposeful editing and refining process,
Collaborate, share and exchange - select and use appropriate ICT tools safely to lead groups in sharing and exchanging information, and taking part in online projects or active collaborations  ( Ap 13, 14) This is base on Australian Curriculum AISTL Information and Communication Technology ICT capability-  Learning continuum

Reflection on Globster, Prezi and PowerPoint:
Though, I did not like the slower, less manipulative or interactive qualities of this tool as much as the Prezi there was not as much control as you get with a static or interactive PowerPoint. Each of these tools could be linked together as part of a sequential use of different digital tools to

Learning Theory
Blended Learning where qualitative and quantitative experiences link together by using online and face to face learning related to the development dance knowledge and dance application providing avenues to use, product, create, analyse according to (Birt, 2015)
Behavioural where attitudes and perceptions are aligned with the understanding of inclusive practice by delivering knowledge that will engage the learner and inspire the learner to learn as well as give them avenues to understand their feelings, senses and place within the classroom community as being valued, supported and positive. (Marzano & Pickering, 1997)
MultiModal avenues for identification of attitudes, behaviours and impacts from real life links (Bootman, Coppelia) set in multi-media supported learning. (Cope & Kalantzis, 2000)
Cognitive Constructivism - Learning Design - strategies to present materials that support the learning journey, highlight points and create summaries. (Birt 2015)
Transformative Learning - transport understanding, meaning to construct new interpretations of beliefs to guide future action Mezirow, 1996, Edward, W, T 1998

I've gotten so wrapped up in the creation of my Prezi and PowerPoint that I've not started my Reflective Synopsis for next weeks blog

Reflective Analysis -  this blog
All tools have made the learning experience more interactive and engaged thinking processes the moved outside the box to identify that to utilise eLearning tools we also need to understand the diversity of our learners.  To further elaborate on this I've add a few other multimedia (YouTube videos) on Dance Therapy for there framework on inclusive education, behavioural understandings and how dance can transform learning for all learners through its links to help understand acknowledge and embrace learning of all learners.  There are instances where each modality would be useful in the classroom environment, but there were also a few technical issues that would need, identification of alternative options.  Throughout this part of my eLearning journey Learning preferences have been identified in how I've gone about creating strategies for learning and using ICT applications.  VARK

Reflective Synopsis - this blog
