Reflections - through the looking glass to the future of a education student to a fully qualified teacher and some ICT capability stepping stones

On looking through to the reflective future, I would be an adaptable and life long learner and hopefully a qualified teacher by then, but would I be called a designer or motivator in the changing world of what will be the evolution of a teachers role.  What will this compass as the world of technology spreads its 21st century wings and envelopes the world of pedagogy?  Will this role still be a teachers role, in person or or via an avatar, hollogram or via Skype linked classrooms from education and learning professionals from all over the world.

I foresee in my crystal ball that I will have the ability to enable learners to Recognise, Apply and Identify ICT learning continuum, with guidance from the elements within the ICT capabilities, identified in the Australian Curriculum and outline in the scope pedagogy.

Moving from a passive learning style to an active learning style for means adapting and changing within the classroom environment in response to the fast paced changes being seen in ICT all over the world.  There is also a need for not only personal, but also learner centric knowledge acquisition  , with understanding the changes and how these might evolve from a simple discussion to the ability to engage in active learning, with its fast paced changes to communication and ICT.

I would hope that by building a learning experiences that reflect those of Biannca Hewes and the use of project based learning, for the development of future parents and workers that social and ethical protocols that include,  responsible, reliable and understand integrity of technology, in and outside of the classroom can be developed in practice.  Aligning my ideas with Biannca Hews and leaning towards the identification, that we are enhancing 21st Century skills via the potential to have a learning environment that is ethical, empathetic, understanding, to prepare learner to evolve into or build better and more thoughtful human beings.  Discussion based and attitude building that builds our ability to embrace change, though recognition, application and identification. (Australian Curriculum ICT capabilities).

Collaboration and communication are key to PBL because students spend most of their time working in small teams. We’re told so often that these are the 21st century skills for young people to master – the workforce is collaborative and globalised therefore our students need to be able to work in a team and to communicate effectively with anyone, anywhere, anytime. https://biancahewes.wordpress.com/2013/04/21/project-based-learning-and-the-australian-curriculum-general-capabilities-part-1/

                          Relevant - Engaging - Challenging

But lets step away from the looking glass and recognise, that I am still a student teacher and as such need to undertake, peer and self assessments that will help me with identifying ways to engage in learning that include professional connections and appropriate learning strategies in my own teaching and learning application.

This is where I need more time and some brainstorming, discussing and an ICT mind map template  to get me started, hopefully this helps to underpin and gives me time to reflect AITSL standards.

Select from a flexible and effective repertoire of teaching strategies to suit the physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics of students. http://www.aitsl.edu.au/australian-professional-standards-for-teachers/standards/list  Student Movement Illustration of Practice

For myself if is rewarding and challenging that as a dance teacher, you need to know your content and how to teach it from a very multi-phasitied disapline approaches within the code of practice for dance teachers.

I've had the pleasure to enable, create and enhance the opportunities, that my students have had access to via the use of ICT (Youtube, Internet)  to both watch clips of dancers, undertaking roles in which they may someday perform, to research where ballet began (and no its not france) and enabling them to undertake workshops with the Ed Squad from the Queensland Ballet.  Identifying that dance is fun and engaging through discussion, recognition and understanding, achieve through multiple directions including, movement as a way to engage understanding as shown by the Australian Ballet with  changing preconceived ideas.

In the past teachers and some schools have not had access to the tools they need to build on a teachers professional development including communication skills which prior to the National declaration identified that more need to be done, identified by Biannca Hewes as being an ICT positive for person and professional development as a teacher with access to other professionals.
  • Rapid and continuing advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) are changing the ways people share, use, develop and process information and technology. In this digital age, young people need to be highly skilled in the use of ICT. While schools already employ these technologies in learning, there is a need to increase their effectiveness significantly over the next decade. http://www.curriculum.edu.au/verve/_resources/National_Declaration_on_the_Educational_Goals_for_Young_Australians.pdf
